Steve Alford to be named head coach at Nevada

According to a source close to the TEAM, former UNM and UCLA head basketball coach Steve Alford will be the next head coach at Nevada. Alford replaces Eric Musselman, who left the Wolfpack to accept the head coaching position at the University of Arkansas,

Alford returns to the Mountain West Conference after five and a half tumultuous seasons with the Bruins, including a 7-6 record this past year that resulted in his firing. In six seasons with the Lobos from 2007 to 2013, Alford posted an impressive 207-155 mark, highlighted by a 30-5 record in the 2009-10 season and three NCAA tournament berths.

Duke Ritenhous of the Rena Gazette-Journal reported today that Alford has been spotted in Reno and is expected to be named head coach soon.
