CAUGHT ON THE WEB: Former Lobo Leaves Mark on Great Wall

It is one of mankind's most stunning creations.
It has stood for about 2,500 years.
Now, the Great Wall of China has been defaced by a famous Lobo.
Touring the Great Wall with his Indiana Pacers teammates, Danny Granger stood atop the wall. Inspired by the sprawling view of China below, Granger scrawled "PACERS WUZ HERE!!!!!" on a section of the ancient edifice.
"Hope that's not illegal," he said.
Well, if it is, here's the damning evidence (Granger's vandalism occurs near the 3:42 mark) ...
I don't think Granger will have much to worry about. You can see in the video, hundreds of people have left their mark on the monument. Plus the video was released on the Pacers website.
UNM's football team is smack dab in the middle of it's ugliest football season in 22 years.
You can bet more Lobos fans are eagerly awaiting basketball season this year than in typical years.
One person not terribly thrilled about playing the Lobos is Texas A&M coach Mark Turgeon. The Aggies head man told the Houston Chronicle that he'd rather play one of the nation's top programs, such as Duke or North Carolina. UNM and A&M play Dec. 12 in Houston, a "neutral" site.
Added Turgeon: "Early on, I wasn't fired up about playing New Mexico, to be quite honest. ... If you're going to come over here to Houston and play a big game, you want big games to come in."
Turgeon insists he means no disrespect toward UNM. He probably doesn't. But you can bet the Lobos coaches won't relay to the team that way.
Sorry Lobos fans, but I'm going to reference UNM football here.
Cheer up, these are tidbits about Lobo football legends -- Brian Urlacher and Hank Baskett.
Urlacher is late in his career and out for the season with a wrist injury. That prompted some Chicago writers to suggest Url days in the Windy City are numbered. Not so, says Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune.
In a weekly mailbag feature, Pompei addressed a question about Urlacher's future ...
" ...I don't see what the benefit would be in cutting Urlacher, who at the time of his injury may have been the best player on the defense. He still can play. He is a leader on the team. Fans love him. His salary cap number next year is not a killer. If the Bears didn't think he could play, then I'd say cutting him would be a possibility. But I can assure you at this point that is not the case."
The quote of the week comes from Baskett, who said this to the Indianapolis Star, when asked about learning the Colts intricate offense ...
"As soon as you learn to run a play one way, there's a variation to run it another. And at any time, Peyton can call motion or something like that, and that throws the whole thing into another spin."
Baskett also added that it's enough to "make your head explode."
