Lobos Get New Basketball Assistant Coach

Wyking Jones will be the newest UNM men's basketball assistant coach, replacing Chris Walker, as first reported by Bob Brown in The Locker Room on Wednesday.

Jones, who currently works with Nike overseeing all company affiliated AAU operations, has a broad resume. He played at Loyola Marymount in the early 90s (scoring more than 1,000 points and grabbing more than 500 rebounds) and later served as an assistant with Paul Westphal at Pepperdine. Jones is heavily involved in the Nike Skills Academy and has great connections, The Team's A.J. Bramlett says.

Jones was offered a position at the University of Arizona, but turned it down. He has also dabbled in acting, playing small roles in The Wood and Brown Sugar.

He will officially start in July.
