Lobos sign UConn freshman transfer Vance Jackson

Former UConn freshman forward Vance Jackson announced via social media on Monday that he has decided to transfer to the University of New Mexico. Per NCAA transfer rules, Jackson will sit out the upcoming 2017-18 season but will have three seasons of playing eligibility in his college career.

Jackson was a consensus top-100 recruit out of high school before averaging 8.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game as a freshmen, showing impressive range for a big man shooting nearly 40% from behind the arc.

His athleticism and size will be a huge boost for head coach Paul Weir next season. Weir still has three remaining scholarship spots to fill for the upcoming season. Jackson joins fellow new commitments Antino Jackson, Jachai Simmons, Troy Simons, and Chris McNeal.
