Makuach Maluach signs letter of intent to join Lobos

Australian junior national team wing Makuach Maluach has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at the University of New Mexico in 2017-18. Maluach, a 6’5” native of the Sudan who currently lives in Australia, will add athleticism and speed on the wing for first year UNM head coach Paul Weir.

In a phone interview with Albuquerque Journal beat writer Geoff Grammer, Maluach’s boarding school coach Rex Nottage praised Maluach’s rebounding and work ethic, while stating that the wing is “deadly dangerous in transition.”

Weir and his coaching staff have now signed six players this offseason and have two remaining open scholarships. Maluach joins Jachai Simmons, Vance Jackson, Antino Jackson, Troy Simons, and Chris McNeal.
