Former Lobo Mitch Garver called up to Twins

Former Lobo great Mitch Garver became the 10th Lobo to reach the Major Leagues after receiving a promotion to the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Garver, a former star catcher for the Lobos who has transitioned to first base and outfield in the minor leagues, was hitting .291 with 17 home runs and 45 doubles this season at Triple-A Rochester.

Garver was drafted in the ninth round of the 2013 MLB draft after a storied career at UNM. According to a post on GoLobos.com, Garver finished his UNM career ranked top 10 in hits, RBI, doubles, total bases, and games played, to go along with two All-American awards.
