Cowboys Lock up Zack Martin to Six-Year Deal

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys front office made the correct decision when they passed on Texans A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel in favor of Norte Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin. Martin turned into arguably the best offensive lineman in the league and a four-time pro bowler, while Mazniel flamed out and is currently trying to restart his pro career in Canada.

Jones and the Dallas brain trust made another smart move with Martin on Monday by locking up the all pro guard and a centerpiece of the vaunted Cowboy running attack to a six-year $66 million contract, including $30 million guaranteed.

Locking up Martin ensures that the Cowboys will have three stud offensive linemen locked up through the 2025 season, with Martin joining left tackle Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick with long-term deals.

The commitment to building one of the best offensive lines over the past five seasons has paid dividends to the Cowboys, a team that has finished in the top ten in rushing (two top-three finishes) since Martin joined the league in 2014.
