Bryce Harper Signs $330M contract with Phillies

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Philadelphia Phillies and Bryce Harper have agreed to a 13-year $330M contract. The deal is the largest guaranteed contract in baseball history, and the deal does not include an opt-out. Harper will be in Philly for a long time.

The 26-year-old outfielder is a career .279 hitter, with 184 home runs and 531 runs batted in in 927 career games. Although he did hit 34 home runs for the Nationals last season and drove in 100 runs, he failed to top .250 in two of the past three seasons.

Harper was reportedly down to three teams in his free agency courting process, with the Giants and Dodgers both trying to woo the high-priced outfielder. In the end, Harper decided to play for the Phillies, a team with a ton of young talent that could make a push for the NL East crown.
