Senior guard Anthony Mathis will return to the Lobos for one more season according to a release by the school on Wednesday afternoon. Per the release, Mathis has been granted a season of competition waiver by the NCAA and will return to play for the Lobos.
Mathis led the team with 14.4 points per game, with an impressive 41.6 field goal percentage from behind the arc.
“I am so happy for Anthony,” head coach Paul Weir said via the release. “There hasn’t been a more committed member of our team the past two years and to have him for one more is an absolutely huge boost for our program.”
In addition to finishing the 2018-19 ranked in the top 35 in the nation in three-point field goal percentage and three-pointers made, Mathis is a stud in the classroom as a member of the 2016 Academic All-Conference list.
