New Mexico United fans, get ready to shake the net.
According to a release sent out by the team, the USL Championship Board of Governors voted in favor of returning to play in 2020. Per the release, the USL is aiming for a provisional start date of July 11, 2020.
“85 days ago our 2020 season came to an abrupt halt. In those 85 days, our state has faced unimaginable challenges. Today, I am overjoyed and overcome with emotion to say that we will be back on the field, “said majority owner & CEO of New Mexico United, Peter Trevisani, via the release.
“I think we can all see now, more than ever, the strength that is created when we come together to unite. We can’t wait to channel that strength and bring a championship cup to New Mexico.”
The format of the season, including how many games will be played, how the playoffs will work, and which games will be broadcasted has yet to be determined.
As the radio broadcast home of NM United soccer, we are ecstatic to get back to work and look forward to bringing United fans all of the exciting action.
