High School football was back on 101.7 The TEAM as the La Cueva Bears traveled to Los Lunas to take on the Tigers.
The Bears, after reaching the Class 6A Semifinals a year ago, defeated the Tigers 49-17 to improve to 4-1 on the season. Los Lunas, after running the table (13-0) and winning the 5A title in 2021 is 2-3.
Senior Aidan Armenta was 25 for 41 for 284 yards and six touchdowns to Lead La Cueva.
Gabriel Buie collected 197 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.
Six different players caught passes for La Cueva. Ian Sanchez had seven catches for 93 yards. Cruz Markham had five receptions for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson Hix (four receptions, 77 yards), Cameron Dyer (four catches, 50 yards) and Mason Crowell (four catches, 32 yards) each had four catches and a TD.
Paul Cieremans completed two passes for 59 yards, including a 26-yard TD pass to Fabian Trujillo.
Cash Aragon led Los Lunas on the ground with 63 yards on 21 carries. Nicholas Torres had 33 yards and a touchdown on four carries.
