The Cowboys avoided a possible knee injury scare from star left tackle Tyron Smith as they defeated the Lions 42-21 on Monday Night Football.
Dak Prescott threw for 212 yards and three scores, Dez Bryant caught two touchdowns and threw for another, and Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 80 yards and two scores in limited work.
But it was Smith, a perennial pro bowler and vital cog in the vaunted Dallas offensive line, who had the attention of Cowboy fans when he left the game early with an apparent injury to his right knee.
Although Smith was seen in the fourth quarter with his knee wrapped in ice, the former first round pick from USC told reporters after the game that he is fine. Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones echoed those sentiments, confirming that Smith was held out as a precaution.
Smith’s status for week 17 when the Cowboys head the Philadelphia to take on the Eagles is up in the air.
