Playing in just his second career game, kickoff returner Elijah Lilly received Mountain West Conference special teams player of the week honors for his stellar performance in UNM’s 45-40 victory over Air Force on Saturday.
Lilly, a 5’11, 160 pound freshman from San Bernardino, California, collected 160 total return yards in four attempts on Saturday, helping the Lobos defeat the Falcons. Three of his returns led to scoring drives for the lobos, including a 51-yard kickoff return in the final minutes of the first half that led to a 45-yard touchdown pass by Lamar Jordan.
With the win, the Lobos moved to 3-3 on the season and 2-1 in MWC conference play. UNM hosts Louisiana Monroe on Saturday before resuming conference play at Hawaii on October 29th.
