Report: Tony Romo expected to play some on Sunday

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported via Twitter yesterday that Dak Prescott will likely start week 17 against the Eagles, but the Cowboys plan on giving Tony Romo his first playing time since injuring his back this preseason against the Seahawks.

It will be Romo’s first regular season action since he broke his collarbone on Thanksgiving day 2015.

The Cowboys have yet to officially commit to playing Romo, but head coach Jason Garrett did say that Romo is wanting to see the field.

Garrett said Romo “absolutely” wants to play in a quote to Todd Archer on ESPN Dallas.

“He’s a great competitor. I’ve been around him a long time. You see him compete in practice. He loves to play football.”

With a chance to set the NFL rookie record for wins, Prescott will likely earn the start and give way to Romo. The question remains of when will Romo play, and will he be effective when he takes the field.
