UNM Football: Bulldogs dismantle Lobos in 38-0 win

Fresh off a bye week to rest, recover, and prepare for their next opponent, the University of New Mexico Lobos played their worst game of the season in a 38-0 blowout loss to the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday.

Lamar Jordan and Tevaka Tuioti combined for 15 of 30 passing for 213 yards and one interception, while the vaunted UNM ground game managed just 109 yards on 37 combined attempts between eight UNM players.

The Lobo offense turned the ball over two times and converted just two of 14 first downs on the night, as the Bulldogs held UNM to their first shutout since 2012.

Fresno State dismantled UNM with a balanced attack that included 227 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns, along with 299 passing yards and three touchdowns from junior quarterback Marcus McMaryion.

McMaryion got the Bulldogs on the board first with a 70-yard touchdown pass to Jamire Jordan with 4:30 left in the first quarter. He would add another 12-yard TD toss to KeeSean Johnson just before the end of the first period.

The Bulldogs owned a 21-0 lead at the break as the Lobos managed six punts and a missed field goal on their seven possessions of the half, which included three different drives of just three plays and a punt. It was a disappointing performance for a team that had two weeks to prepare for their opponent.

With the win, Fresno State moves to 3-0 in conference play, a game ahead of San Diego State in the Western division. The Lobos fell to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play, with a tough matchup against 3-0 Colorado State next on the schedule.
