Red Raiders Rout Lobos 15-6

The New Mexico Lobos held the No. 14 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders to just three runs in the first three innings in yesterday’s game, lending hope to the UNM fans in attendance that Ray Birmingham’s squad could pull off the upset.

But the Red Raiders exploded for nine runs in the top of the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run blast by first baseman Cameron Warren, to take a commanding 11 run lead in route to a 15-6 victory.

Six different Red Raiders scored at least two runs on the evening, while designated hitter Cole Stilwell and catcher Braxton Fulford each plated a game-high three runs.

Bryce Bonnin pitched five innings of seven-hit baseball to earn his third victory of the season. Bonnin struck out two and walked three while giving up five earned runs.

Kenneth Waller lasted just three innings in the loss, with two walks and two strikeouts on five hits. Battery mate Reece O’Farrell proved to be the top offensive performer for the Lobos o the day, with a team-high two RBI and two hits.

The Lobos will look to even the two-game series this afternoon at 1 pm from Santa Ana Star Field. Be sure to tune in on ESPN Radio 101.7 The TEAM for all of the exciting action in crystal-clear FM stereo.
