Bob Davie out as head coach of UNM

The Bob Davie era at UNM is coming to an end on Saturday when the Lobos host the Utah State Aggies on fan appreciation day at Dream Style Stadium.

More than a few UNM fans appreciative that Davie and UNM have mutually agreed to part ways, with the Lobos failing to win more than three games in each of the last three seasons under Davie.

What started out with promise and culminated with a 9-4 record and a bowl appearance in 2016, ended with back-to-back 3-9 finishes in 2017 and 2018, followed by a likely 2-10 record should UNM fall to Utah State on Saturday.

“In stepping aside, I’m proud of what we accomplished at UNM, but we are all disappointed that we have not been able to sustain the success that we achieved and all desire” said Davie in a release from the school.

“My family and I will be forever grateful to UNM for giving me the opportunity to coach again after being at ESPN for 10 years.”

Davie ends with 35-63 (not counting Saturday’s game against Utah State) record in eight seasons with UNM.
