New Mexico United received $4.1 from the 2020 legislative session to develop a Sport and Cultural Center, according to a release provided by the team today.

The Sports and Cultural Center will also be the team’s permanent home.

The measure received broad bipartisan support, including Representatives Antonio Maestas and Javier Martínez, and Senators Jacob Candelaria and John Sapien.

“I am proud to have demonstrated to my fellow policymakers the overwhelming benefits that a Sport and Cultural Center would bring to our state,” said Representative Candelaria. “This is a project we can not only be proud of, but a project that will attract and retain talent, drive business growth, and deliver long-term economic impact.”

According to the release, the team plans on using the funs to “execute a site feasibility analysis and economic impact surveys as well as plan, design, and secure land for the project.”
