Aaron Rodgers reports to Packers training camp

Reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers reported to Packers training camp this morning after a contentious offseason in which Rodgers reportedly demanded to be traded and rejected a lucrative contract extension.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Packers and Rodgers agreed to the following stipulations that led to Rodgers’ return to the team.

* The 2023 year in Rodgers’ contract — the last one in his current deal — would be voided, with no tags allowed in the future.

* The Packers would agree to review Rodgers’ situation at the end of this season.

* Rodgers’ contract would be adjusted with no loss of income to give the Packers more cap room now.

  • Mechanisms will be put in place to address Rodgers’ issues with the team.

The concessions by the Packers do not necessarily mean this is the final season in Green Bay for the future hall of fame quarterback, but it does open the door for Rodgers to possibly be traded after the 2021 season.
