UNM releases new entry requirements for events at The Pit effective 12-28-21

In response to the growing threat of the Omicron variant, The University of New Mexico athletic department announced new entry requirements for events at the Pit effective December 28th, 2021.

Anyone entering the Pit will need to meet one of the following three requirements:

1- Provide a vaccination card showing they are vaccinated. The requirement includes two shots of Pfizer or Moderna or one Johnson and Johnson.

2- Provide a negative COVID test within 72 hours for PCR test or 24 hours for antigen.

3- Lobo fans under the age of 12 are not required to meet these requirements.

In addition to these new requirements, fans are also “required to continue to wear a mask in any indoor venue or setting.”

“The university has a responsibility to our student-athletes, coaches, staff and the thousands of passionate Lobo fans, to do what we can to protect the health and safety of those competing, coaching, working, watching, and cheering the game,” said Vice President/Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez said in a release from the school.

“We ask for your understanding and patience as the new requirements are implemented. Our fans are the reason The Pit is the iconic venue that it is and why our student-athletes compete every day to represent them and this great state. Please help us keep our student-athletes and everyone in our community safe.”
