The Volcano Vista and Albuquerque Academy Boys Basketball teams took him championship hardware at the NMAA State Boys and Girls Basketball Tournaments last week at the Pit.
Volcano Vista got past Sandia 43-31 in the 5A title in front of a loud and spirited crowd.
The Hawks won their second-straight Boys title and third in school history. Sandia was attempting to win its first title since 1985.
Albuquerque Academy collected its 10th overall Boys title in school history, and first since 1994.
The Hobbs Girls Basketball team defeated Volcano Vista 52-45 in the 5A championship game.
The crowds were back in full force and outstanding, as was the play on the court.
