New Mexico United announces the addition of Itamar Keinan as the club’s first Sporting Director

Albuquerque, NM – New Mexico United is excited to announce the addition of Itamar Keinan as the first Sporting Director in the club’s history. Keinan – who previously served as the club’s Director of Player Personnel in 2021 – brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the game, contracts, and tactics to United.

“Itamar’s knowledge of the game’s inner workings is second to none, and we’re honored to welcome him back into the fold in this new role,” said United Owner/President Peter Trevisani. “He will be crucial in taking this club to the next level from a personnel perspective, and is already making a huge difference, as we continue a thorough search for our next head coach.”

Keinan grew up in Israel and has been around the game of soccer as a player, coach, and agent for more than 20 years. He played college soccer at West Texas A&M University and later served as an agent for a decade before joining United for the 2021 season. In 2022-2023, Keinan advised clubs across the country on player and technical staff acquisition and tactics.

“I’m thrilled to rejoin New Mexico United in this new role, which will allow me to put my skills to use for the greatest club in the USL Championship,” said Keinan. “This community deserves nothing less than a winner, and together we’ll continue to push toward bringing a cup to New Mexico.”

Until a new Head Coach is named, United’s coaching staff – led by First Assistant Coach Masaki Hemmi – will assume the duties necessary to prepare for upcoming fixtures.
